Is retro gaming better?

With Sony copying Nintendo and bringing out a mini first generation PlayStation, I find myself asking “is Retro gaming better?”

The reason for this is simple, I’m thinking of the ideal game for my wife’s Christmas so she has something to play on her Nintendo 3DS but I am having to choose as there is a lot of really great pokemon games that can be downloaded onto her 3DS.

Whilst there is a lot of more recent gameboy/3DS titles available, i can’t help but think of getting something more classic so to speak. This got me thinking about the current games available and games I have had on older consoles.

SUPER MARIO WORLD being a good example, it is over 25 years old and is still as good as the day it was released, where abouts I hear modern games like Fallout 76 are being released with bugs which means that they need big updates. This is the reason for this post.

Don’t get me wrong I love modern games, I’m currently playing Fallout 4 and Sea of Thieves (depending on my mood at the time). But I can’t help but think about how the games industry nowadays is rushed to get their products out to the market where previously the game would be perfect and released when it was ready .

I definitely think there has been something lost with the rise of online multi player gaming, nobody ever seems to sit around a TV and play split screen anymore, some of the best experiences I have had, has been sitting down with other people in the room rather than meeting them online.

While graphics and games have certainly improved, there is something to be said about how good some older games are. So what do you think? Feel free to let me know.
