Why Net Neutrality is important

The FCC vote to destroy the Net Neutrality protections on Dec. 14

The FCC’s Dec. 14 decision willfully ignored the outcry from tens of millions of people, and it abdicated the FCC’s responsibility to protect the internet from ISP blocking and discrimination. The FCC has made a move that has injured our digital economy and free speech in just one swoop & all without so much as a single public hearing.

So why should this be a concern for Gamers or even anyone else who uses the internet?

Net neutrality is the principle that Internet providers like Comcast & Verizon should not control what we see and do online.

In 2015, startups, Internet freedom groups, and 3.7 million commenters won strong net neutrality rules from the US Federal Communication Commission (FCC). The rules prohibit Internet providers from blocking, throttling, and paid prioritization—”fast lanes” for sites that pay, and slow lanes for everyone else.

Nearly everyone who depends on the internet knows how important Net Neutrality is, we can’t have a multiple speed system, a system for those who can afford it.

I don’t want to be in the position that people can’t access my blog or my connection to Xbox live is throttled by a ISP. I don’t my services like Netflix to be effected and that’s why net neutrality matters.

So what can you do about it, you can write to whoever represents you politically i.e your MP or MSP if you live in the UK or a member of Congress if you live in America & ask them to ensure this doesn’t happen.
