This was my first joystick, this being the controller for the Atari 2600. In a way this image represents how old I am, I’m a child of the 80’s, Pac Man being the first game I remember playing & that is when gaming really took off. I’ve been a console gamer for most of that time except for a spell trying to play games on my brothers ZX Spectrum. You could probably guess that I like playing with others especially online thanks to Xbox live.
The thing about gaming is that I find it to be a very social & fulfilling activity. Even though I am a Xbox gamer at heart I have been known to play Nintendo & Sony consoles. If I had the money I would have a Nintendo Switch & a PlayStation 4.
I have always taken it for granted that I can easily use most controllers that come with games consoles so when I heard about Special Effect which is a charity based in Oxfordshire that helps level the field for gamers with disabilities I had to follow what they do to help those less fortunate than me. I usually give some money to other charities but next year I plan on raising some for Special Effect.
I’m just trying to think of a good way of doing it; perhaps a gaming marathon, wearing a different gaming t-shirt everyday during February or getting paid NOT to do any gaming for that month. Any idea’s would be helpful & if you can come up with any feel free to make contact.
