It’s been about 6 months since I began this gaming blog and the most common spam comments I have to deal with have been about monetising the site and suggesting that I should monetize in one way or another.
I have begun that process as you can see by the numerous adverts that I have on my WordPress.com website. Because I’m not self hosting or using a 3rd party to host my site, I have some limitations to how I actually make money but thankfully there is some options that I may implement.
I am using the WordPress plan aimed at freelancer workers which means my adverts are part of the WordAds program. This allows me to get revenue based on visiting readers engagement with these ad’s. But if I upgrade to a business plan I can use third-party networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media.
I intend to add one such button very soon & any donations would be very welcome.
You are allowed to publish sponsored posts on WordPress.com, a sponsored post is any content that promotes a specific product or service, which you were encouraged to post by the company or individual who makes/sells/provides it.
Including this type of content is something I am willing to consider. If you want to make me an offer, feel free to make contact.
You can add affiliate links as long as the primary purpose of your blog is to create original content, and as long as the html code for the ad is supported by WordPress.
You could be blogging about games you love, new titles you desire, gaming clothes that strike your fancy, retro gadgets you’re drooling over, or whatever interests you and your readers.
Apparently an easy and popular way to get started affiliate links is Amazon as WordPress allows you to add relevant affiliate links using either text or images. WordPress activily helps with this with helpful support pages.
There are a few restrictions in what affiliate programs are allowed.
